Marhu has been tearing up dancefloors recently with a heady mix of acid and techno. We asked her to introduce herself.
Who are you?
I’m Marhu, a techno DJ and producer. I love making people’s bodies move with some sick beats.
Where are you from?
I’m half Swiss and half Belgian. I live in Brussels.
What do you sound like?
I’m all about acid lines and dark, energetic techno that is sure to get your heart racing and your feet stomping.
Why should we follow what you’re doing?
Oh dear, I hate this question! It feels like selling a used car.
I’ve played at big clubs and festivals, supported by industry big-shots. But what sets me apart is my heart and soul in every track and set. I love this music and love making people dance. Follow me and let’s party!
What have you got coming out in the near future?
Cooking up fresh beats in the lab, collaborating with the techno legend A*S*Y*S* on a new project, and always pushing the boundaries of techno.
What or who is your biggest influence and why?
That’s a tough one! I’ve been influenced by so many different artists like Ben Klock, Dax J, Regal, and of course A*S*Y*S.
How did you get into DJing/producing to begin with?
I started at home with turntables and a small mixer. I played thousands of hours at home. Then I studied music production later.
What are three things on your studio shopping list?
Well, let me tell you, my shopping list is longer than the queue for the hottest techno club in Berlin! If I had to narrow it down to just three items, I’d say I’m in desperate need of some new monitors, a sleek and sexy synth, and a massage chair to soothe my aching DJ muscles. After a hard day at work, I deserve some pampering, right?
Who or what have you sacrificed for your art
Less “sacrificing,” more “investing” in my music. Maybe I’ve missed out on some romance and beach time, but at least I have my beats to keep me company!
What’s been your favourite place to play so far?
Colombia was off the hook! The people there were so full of love and energy! I remember this club “Elliptica” which is in the middle of the mountains in Cali. A night I will never forget !
I absolutely can’t wait to go back.
Which of your tracks sums you up? Why?
Ah, ‘Wildfire’ – my fiery little baby!! It’s pure minimalistic and acid-driven. It’s clear, efficient and it flows beautifully.
What have you released so far?
Quite a few things but last month I had a new EP on the legendary He.She.They. Records. “Through My Veins” which is going very strong at the moment.
What one song would feature on the soundtrack to your life?
Too young to reply to this question yet.
What motivates you?
Seeing people go wild to my beats! Connecting with more and more people, turning goals into reality.
Plus, I’ve got a healthy competitive streak and I love to see my fellow DJs killing it – it just inspires me to step up my game and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I've got a healthy competitive streak and I love to see my fellow DJs killing it.
What’s the best bit of advice you’ve received?
Never stop learning and growing, and take full responsibility for your life.
I always keep an open mind and a hungry heart, and I think that’s helped me stay fresh and relevant in this ever-changing industry.
Complete this sentence, at heart I’m just a…
Music-loving, beat-dropping, crowd-hyping, techno wizard!
Where will you be in five years’ time?
I feel grateful every day for the opportunities that have come my way. So if I could keep doing this for the next five years and beyond, I would be a very happy DJ indeed.
Where can we hear your music?
But if you really want the full experience, you’ve got to come see me play live!
