In the speaker game since the 1950s, the UK company ATC is an institution in the audio industry. Commonly used in professional recording studios, this company’s monitors don’t come cheap. And so it is with ACT’s new SCM45A Pro monitors, developed as an extension to the SCM25A featured in our previous round-up.
The SCM45A Pro retails for over $10,000, so they are almost certainly outside the range of most bedroom producers on the planet. However, if you intend to make a career of sound engineering and mixing, the SCM45A PRO will do you right. But if you’re thinking of such a career, then you might already know of sonic accuracy of ATC’s SCM line of monitors.
These speakers build off of the success of the SCM30A three-way speaker system. Larger than the SCM30A, the detail is incredible and the output is considerable. The reason for this is that they feature dual 6.5-inch drivers that can handle deep bass and the mid-range, while ATC’s dual-suspension tweeter—which took six years of R&D, and is proprietary—handles the upper frequencies with warmth and depth.
