Oblivion Sound Lab has announced the release of Retrograde: 120 Cosmic Patches for u-he’s Repro-5.

Exactly 52 years ago, Apollo 11 was in its last few days before successfully returning to Earth. While people debate did it or did not really happen, no one doubts whether space synth heroes such as Tangerine Dream, Jean-Michel Jarre, Vangelis, Software and Kitaro really existed! Their spacey cosmic sound is across hundreds of records oozing analogue goodness.

Oblivion Sound Lab

A sound that has long captured the heart of synth heads, Oblivion Sound Lab, makers of the fine Hex, have unveiled Retrograde: 120 brand new patches for the Repro-5. Drawing on the sounds of the synth heroes mentioned, it’s also musically inspired by modern composers such as Majeure, Wojciech Golczewski and Le Matos.

Patches included are:

  • Seismic basses
  • Interstellar leads
  • Cinematic pads and soundscapes
  • Ethereal bells
  • Soaring strings
  • Cosmic sweeps
  • Alien sound effects
  • Complex plucks
  • And more..

The majority have parameters mapped to modwheel or aftertouch, and NKS patches are included for integration with Native Instruments hardware (no audio previews)

Retrograde is most suited for Berlin School, Space Ambient, Synthwave, film scoring, or any style of music that needs to follow Jeff Bezos in an anthropomorphic shaped rocked into space.
