Balance. Musically this means doing exactly what you as an artist love and feel the most passionately about while at the same time creating works that other people can understand.

This might seem obvious but for many years I didn’t see it this way at all. I used to think that making purely avant-garde music for purely selfish reasons was the way to go. If the listener liked it then great, but if they didn’t then that was fine too. With this mindset the listener isn’t a consideration but in reality the listener is always the most important aspect of making music – when one wants to make a career of it!

  • Cool!

  • I´d wish Dan Curtin stayed on his initial path. Most of his earlier stuff is amazing.

  • I dig this. Attack you guys are absolutely killing it with these articles. I feel that this collective really aims to please the serious artists out here and not just cater to the business aspect. Yes, electronic music is getting much bigger but those of us that take it seriously still need an outlet and a space like this to gather information but also share ideas. Great stuff!
