FXpansion Geist 2 Announced. The second version of FXpansion‘s sound­ sculpting and beat production system Geist combines award-winning sample manipulation, arrangement and modulation capabilities with a fast and intuitive workflow that provides instant inspiration. Zombie Nation’s Live Studio Session. German techno and electro producer Florian Senfter, aka Zombie Nation, performs a live studio recording session using the “left rack” of his studio, which includes a Modulus Monwave, a Doepfer 404, an Ursa Major Space Station, an SND FB-14 Filterbank, and an Elektron Analog Rytm. Detroit’s Architects of Techno Honoured. Detroit News reports that pioneering techno DJs and producers Juan AtkinsDerrick May and Kevin Saunderson have been honoured by Detroit’s City Council for their contributions to the city’s music culture. Find out more here.

Pioneer DJ releases CDJ-TOUR1 and DJM-TOUR1. The CDJ-TOUR1 multiplayer and DJM-TOUR1 mixer is a “festival-ready set-up with arena-grade sound components for a huge, reliable sound.” Both models have an ESS Technology 32-bit D/A converter to eliminate noise and distortion and give a clear, crisp sound at scale, and the DJM-TOUR1 has a pro audio grade AES/EBU digital output.
