What is Gullfoss?

Gullfoss is an easy-to-use and unique EQ plugin for everyone from the amateur musician to the professional mastering engineer.

Named after a famous Icelandic waterfall, the team at Soundtheory asked themselves: “Why do waterfalls sound so pleasing?” Perhaps a waterfall generates something akin to pink noise, and if so, why does pink noise sound pleasing?

Gullfoss is 3 plugins in 1

Both waterfalls and pink noise come near to maximizing the amount of information your brain perceives. They give your brain more of what it wants.

Gullfoss, the software, is all about organizing the information in the signal so that your brain finds the result more pleasing, just like a waterfall.

How it works?

Soundtheory emerged after nearly 14 years of research, which developed new and unique methods for realtime audio processing. Gullfoss deploys highly advanced human auditory perception models which allows users to analyze sound the same way a human would perceive it.

To understand it, it’s good to know what it isn’t. It’s not using artificial intelligence (AI), neural networks, Fletcher-Munson curves, traditional DSP methods, or machine learning algorithms.

Instead, Gullfoss is the first in a product line that employs a computational auditory perception.
