Plangent Records boss Recondite has lazy Sunday’s like the rest of us. He joins us for a breakdown of his top tracks ranging from his go-to Sunday song to the record he’s most proud of.

Lorenz Brunner aka Recondite has recently released his seventh album ‘Taum’ on his label Plangent Records. The LP features deep and meditative tracks as direct transpositions of his personal experiences during its production.

It’s only right that we sat down with him for a run-through of his favourite tracks, minus Bryan Adams’- ’Summer of 69’.

WHAT’S THE FIRST RECORD YOU EVER BOUGHT?

Metallica – ‘Black Album& Phil Collins – ‘But Seriously’

I know that it’s a funny combination but when I was really young, I heard Metallica for the first time in my older cousin’s bedroom and I loved them.

At the time, Phil Collins’ tracks were on the radio a lot and I liked his album too, and if I’m honest, I still love them both.

THE FIRST TIME YOU REMEMBER HEARING ELECTRONIC MUSIC?

I heard it for the first time when Love Parade was broadcasted live from Berlin 😉 I remember how crazy it looked, even on TV, but I was way too young to go there!

YOUR FAVOURITE EVER RECORD?

Wu-Tang Clan – ’36 Chambers’

This album was perfect in my opinion, it was a true milestone for hip-hop and ultimately paved the way.

THE GUARANTEED FLOOR-FILLER?

Carl Craig – ‘At Les’

This track does the trick, right? 😉

THE GUILTY PLEASURE?

Robert Miles – ‘Children’

Come on – the darker part starting at 1:40 is LEGENDARY! Hahaha.

THE LAST TRACK OF THE NIGHT?

Falco – ‘Zuviel Hitze’

This title means “too much heat” in German… if you know, you know.

THE BEST CHILLOUT RECORD?

Tosca – ‘Suzuki’

This track was the gateway drug that got me into electronic music.

THE RECORD EVERYONE LOVES BUT YOU HATE?

Bryan Adams – ‘Summer of 69’

I remember at one of my first ever gigs I got a request to play that song and I was like “what the f#*%” 🤣

THE BEST RECORD FOR A FAMILY PARTY?

Michael Jackson – ‘Thriller’

THE SOUNDTRACK TO A LAZY SUNDAY AFTERNOON?

Lone Catalysts – ‘The Catalysts Files’

This album is an example of super-chilled hip-hop with great lyrics. The track ‘Renaissance’ is the ultimate Sunday song for me.

THE RECORD YOU’RE PROUDEST OF?

Recondite – ‘Taum’

I’m most proud of my new LP ‘Taum’. It’s really the first time I can pin down the vibe of an album to a specific period in my life. The sound, the atmospheres, the track titles and the artwork all really match what I feel towards this album and felt in the period that I was trying to display.

THE FUTURE CLASSIC?

Maybe my new album ‘Taum’ 😉 hehe, fingers crossed 🤞
