The record everyone loves but you hate?

‘Rescue Me’ – Debbie Malone. Back in the day I hated it! It’s hard to explain why one would hate a record. I’m not really a hater but I think it was her voice. Whatever it was, it used to annoy the hell out of me!

The best record for a family party?

For my family? Queen – ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. When my dad used to drive me to school the cassette was either Queen’s greatest hits or Bob James live, but the Queen was the one he always used to sing along to. I never sing – not even in the shower. I must be too shy.

The soundtrack to a lazy Sunday afternoon?

Herbaliser – ‘Very Mercenary’. Or Jah Wobble albums.

The worst record you’ve ever heard?

Wow. ‘Gym & Tonic’. Remember that? So awful. A keep fit 1-2-3-4 tune to cheesy hard house. Makes me want to puke! Ibiza anthem at its worst.

The record you’re proudest of?

For me it’s our first album as Layo and Bushwacka – Low Life. One journey with no rules. The whole album joined up. And the song from it would be ‘Deep South’. I loved working with Layo and our first album was a total game changer for us.

The future classic?

I’m still working on it in my head! If it’s anything to do with me it’ll probably be an accident.
