“Kinda like when old 90s rap stars lose touch with what’s cool, but with a real 909.” Tyson and Sheff aka Son of Sun introduce themselves.
Who are you?
We are Son of Sun, you are the moon and light, let’s make love. No seriously I’m Wooduck Nirvana and my partner is a black unicorn called Chorizo.
What do you sound like?
You know when old 90s rap stars lose touch with what’s cool. Like the time Tone Loc went to Berghain and tried to make techno? Kinda like that but with a real 909. Soft, sensual, melancholic sounds. Music to make love to, music to dance to, music to move you…
Why should we listen to you?
Because we are poor starving musicians roaming the world playing villa parties and do you how much it costs to keep a full time bodyguard these days? But seriously, we make music from the soul for the soul.
What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?
We released our first EP via Voyeurythm Records before we became Son of Sun. That was the Feel Like I Feel EP with Legowelt and John Daly on remix duties. Once we solidified our love we created Son Of Sun, launching the project with the Whispers EP on Love Fever Records with remixes from Boris Werner, Citizenn and Soul Clap.
We have started working on some new heat for you which we are looking at releasing after the summer. I don’t wanna really give to much away but watch this space. New vibes incoming…
What song sums you up? Why?
Madonna – ‘Holiday’ or anything that gets a conga line going. Also Detroit Grand Pubahs – ‘Sandwiches’.
What or who is your biggest influence and why?
I’d like to thank my mum and dad and god for believing in us. If Jimi Hendrix made love to Miss Kitten and had a child I’d like to think he/she would sound like Son of Sun….
Where can we hear your music?
The tinternet, most elevators, vibesville…
Where will you be in five years’ time?
Probably working in a coal mine in the eastern block, part of getting into our character for the next Zoolander movie
Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.
Once upon a time Tyson used to give tequila tours in Tijuana. Sheff sang his little heart out for the Queen of England on her birthday, back in his choirboy days.
We live, we love, we vibe. We do this for the music. We do this because it makes us happy…
