“All I can see in my peripheral vision is an expansive black void and I’m floating down into it one atom at a time.” Marcel Lune gets deep as he introduces himself.

Who are you?

Hey there. My name is Marcel Lune. I play tunes and use decks and have twisting thumbs. Some people think I’m enigmatic.

WHAT DO YOU SOUND LIKE?

My sound consists of many different flavours, spanning the far-fetched realms of many sonic landscapes. Ranging from hip-hop, jazz and soul to R&B ballads and 90s disco. As you can tell I find it very hard to stick to a particular school of sound.

WHY SHOULD WE LISTEN TO YOU?

You should listen to my tunes because I will take you on a magical journey through the forest with the cackling witches and frogs, through band land and the killer bongos that reside there, all the way up to the sky through the pink candy floss clouds and into the stars, the stars in your eyes… and beyond… (oh god, I didn’t know I was capable of typing this).

WHAT HAVE YOU GOT COMING OUT IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

Well, I have released a couple of singles and EPs in the past with Studio Rockers, Audio Doughnuts and Loco Dooms. And in the future there are a lot of interesting plans, working and collaborating on exciting new material with super talented people.

WHAT SONG SUMS YOU UP? WHY?

Hmmm, a song not of my own that would sum me up must be Flying Lotus‘s ‘Do The Astral Plane’. It just pretty much throws nearly all my influences into one track in such a sophisticated, classy way. Somehow there is so much going on in it but every element is easily identifiable.

WHAT OR WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCE AND WHY?

This has got to be MF DOOM. Weird to think that most of my stuff is in some way inspired by him as everything sounds so different. It feels like mostly the aesthetic and story that makes me connect with him as an artist so much – in no way the sonic elements of my tracks, but something on a deeper level (far oooout maaaayn).

WHERE CAN WE HEAR YOUR MUSIC?

On the internet, just Google Marcel Lune, use your head and I’m sure you will be able to discover something you haven’t heard before. Buy a CD or two, indulge. I would also love to see your money as appreciation for my such gifted/talented/original work.

WHERE WILL YOU BE IN FIVE YEARS’ TIME?

Hard to say, as things can change so much in a year. I would love to be pursuing my dreams in music, surfing on top of a rainbow, pressing buttons and switching dials on my very own modular synthesiser. But don’t we all…

TELL US AN INTERESTING FACT ABOUT YOURSELF.

All I can see in my peripheral vision is an expansive black void and I’m floating down into it one atom at a time.
