Self-proclaimed electronic music polymath and “next gen shit”. Liar has a lot to live up to. We let him introduce himself.

Who are you?

Liar. Electronic music polymath. Infinite Machine shadow chancellor. Tessier-Ashpool Recordings CEO. Chain smoker.

What do you sound like?

An endlessly adaptive musical retrovirus synthesized through a blend of biotech and cyber-occultism.

Why should we listen to you?

Because you don’t want to fall behind, and I’m next gen shit.

What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?

Debuted back in 2012. Already released about a half-dozen proper records and another half-dozen freeleases and mixtapes. Mostly EPs, mostly on Infinite Machine. Two full-lengths, one on IM and the other on Symbols. Shitloads of official remixes, some for Infinite Machine fam, some for household names such as The XX, Active Child, Mikky Ekko, Trust, Editors, etc. Shitloads of bootlegs aside from that. I dunno, need to check my own Discogs sometimes to keep track.

My next Liar EP came out the 18th of this month on IM. Titled Scorpio, it’s my first foray into overtly club material. Later in the year I’ll be debuting New Romancer, my dark techno side-project.

Also, I just started a label, Tessier-Ashpool Recordings – a cybernetic club Infinite Machine spin-off. We’ve got 2ndSun, Spurz, Specialivery, Foba and Borealis on board so far, we’ve just had our soft launch here, and our first release drops 15.09.2014, and then every 2 weeks for 2 months.

What song sums you up? Why?

I suppose that would be my own tune, ‘Western Digital’. It only partly covers my range as a musician and producer (very few songs of mine manage to showcase my full range), but it, and its respective video, are pretty much an ever-so-slightly fictionalized account of my day-to-day life, and of the flesh I happen to currently inhabit.

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

I would have to say Tiga. He’s just the full package – superb songwriter, world-class DJ, visionary curator, consummate businessman, cheeky comedian, all-around alpha male, lovable and down-to-earth human being. It doesn’t hurt that his music and his label are each in my personal top 5 in their respective categories.

Where can we hear your music?

SoundCloud. Spotify. YouTube. Radio. Piracy sites. My gigs. Faint bleed-through from the earbuds of the hottest girl you know.

Where will you be in five years’ time?

On my yacht… roasting… boiling… baking… sweltering… à la Gal Dove in Sexy Beast.  Or dead. Or somewhere in between.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I’ve never actually told a lie. Also, every fact about myself is interesting. Hmph.
