There’s a whole language of coded terms used by DJs but fortunately there are new technological solutions that can help understand what they’re talking about.

Figuring out what DJs were talking about was always a hazardous endeavour at the best of times and now that a comprehensive suite of socials for DJs is de rigueur, we have to contend with their online ramblings too. Newly qualified DJs are now required by law to be trained in the subtle arts of social media, PR, self-promotion and creating an online persona, which creates a stream of baffling content to wade through. But worry not, most translation apps now carry a version of ‘DJ-Speak’, meaning you can work out exactly what they mean.

We tested a few out – “tap” or “click” the image to reveal the translation.
