New London venue Fold announced. Mysterious Aphex Twin logos spark chatter and Ableton reveal further details for Loop 2018.
Shit! Another World festival, due to take place at Washingpool Farm, has had to be postponed due to the presence of sheep faeces. The organisers found that during final inspections on all the fields, there was an overwhelming amount of faeces which poses a genuine danger and simply cannot be ignored. A device for the different. Music tech start up Oddball studios have launched Oddball, a bouncy ball that behaves as a percussion instrument. Picture a drum machine within a bouncy ball, so when you bounce it, a sound plays through an app and those sounds can be changed, looped or recorded. Check the vid out below.
Ableton Loop 2018. Ableton have revealed further details for this year’s Loop summit. Just announced include a live performance from dub pioneer Scientist playing on his custom built soundsystem. Register for tickets here.
New electronic music venue announced. Set in East London, Fold will be launching on August 18th and will kick off with a 24 hour party. The 600 capacity space, located above a print factory on an industrial state, features a bespoke soundsytem that is unlimited to 110 dB with a bottom end of 32khz. Orfium back on. Soundcloud competitor, Orfium, has unveiled a completely rebuilt website, along with a new mobile app that optimises the service for most major mobile devices. Log in and check the updates here.
Pens at the ready. Take Note have announced their full timetable for this year’s exposition at Second Home on September 15th. Visitors can expect daytime discussions, masterclasses, mentoring and A&R feedback from industry insiders. Tickets available here.
Mysterious.Two mysterious Aphex Twin designs have surfaced in London and Turin, sparking speculation about possible London shows, and possibly a new album. The 3-D design, found in Elephant and Castle tube station, is linked to Aphex’s old place of residence: a former bank vault in Elephant and Castle. See the story here.
Rave inspired artwork. Dorothy have released an ode to the acid house revolution, serving up a history of dance music and rave culture mapped onto the circuit diagram of a 303 bass synthesiser. With both yellow and blue designs available, it’s the coolest bit of electronic-music-inspired artwork you’ll see this week, maybe even this month. Check it out here.
Endless.Tim Exile has revealed he is working on a new platform for music-making called Endless.fm. It’s a bit uncertain quite how the platform is set to look and work, but Tim has invited musicians who are interested to sign up and be the first to use it upon release.
