Ibiza to close at 6.30am. To be implemented by next summer, Ibiza’s governing body agrees to sanction clubs, island-wide, which fail to close at 6.30am. This comes after Amnesia alone was found to have breached its licence on occasions. Smaller music bars will now close at 5am, and beach clubs at midnight. Find out more here.

…While London to get Nightlife Mayor? In a report published by the Mayor of London’s Music Venues Taskforce, as a key part of London’s Grassroots Music Venues Rescue Plan, a professional role titled Night Time Economy Champion is recommended to “review policies and maximise the potential of a sector that in the UK is worth £66 billion a year”. Robert Sillerman makes last desperate attempt to take SFX private. Seeking Alpha analyses the proposition from an investor’s perspective: “at first glance, the huge deal spread to the current ~$1.10 price at which the stock is trading might appear to be an interesting opportunity for those unaware of the deal’s history. After all, the market is pricing in a probability under 50% that the deal closes under the announced terms. The Return of Bootleg Vinyl. Pitchfork investigates how the vinyl boom has brought with it the return of bootlegged albums, often released illicitly by clandestine labels like the Cyprus-based Keyhole Records, who deal in unofficial product only – live tapes, radio sessions and outtakes.
