Make royalties great again. President Trump has signed the United States Music Modernization Act into law. The act updates the US copyright and licensing laws bringing it into line with the streaming era. The ultimate aim is to make sure rights holders are fairly compensated when their music is streamed online. Music to the ears. Read more here.

Be random. Ableton have released Sonic Faction’s ‘Probability Pack’. It is composed of five unique step sequencers, each offering different ways of creating managed randomisation to patterns. Available as hardware or, if you own the Live Suite 10, Live 10 Standard or Max for Live, as software. Read more here or watch the video below. Auf Wiedersehen. The much loved German dance music magazine, Groove, will cease its bi-monthly print edition at the end of this month. Economic difficulties and the relevance of print magazines are the main reasons behind the change. It’s another blow for the print industry, however, Groove will continue to publish digitally. Back to the future. Brian Eno has revealed he will put out new vinyl editions of Discreet Music, Music For Films, Music For Airports and On Land. All three albums, released between 1975 and 1982, are some of his most popular work in ambient music, paving the way for the genre. The deluxe double-pack versions of these reissues were remastered at half-speed for higher fidelity, though they will also be also available on standard single-LP vinyl. More here.

Looking for a change? Novation have revealed their latest MIDI keyboard the SL MkIII, part of their long-running and much loved SL Line. At first glance, it has colour screens, 16 pads and an eight-track sequencer. We’re going to get our hands on one to do a proper review but you can see more information in the meantime here.

Listen up. The latest edition of the ‘DJ-Kicks’ compilation is being curated by Robert Hood and released by !K7 Records on November 16th. Featuring tracks from Mark Broom, Truncate and Matrixxman, plus exclusive edits of Hood’s previous work and four new tracks. More here.

Bad news. David Morales has been arrested in Japan and charged with drug smuggling. The authorities believe he has been smuggling ecstasy into Japan, an offence which could land the New Yorker with a seven year jail sentence Read more here.

Live..at last! The legend himself, Giorgio Moroder has announced his live tour. Its not often you get to see him live as this is his first live tour! So, it will be worth checking out! At the grand age of 78 years young, the Italian dance music pioneer is not to be missed. Tickets go on sale here today.

More SoundCloud news. It feels like there is regular news from the giant streaming platform…because there is. They have announced they are expanding its direct monetisation programme known as SoundCloud Premier. The rollout will begin with creators who had 5,000 plays in the past month.
