LabelWorx has introduced Elevate, a new programme that combines upfront funding, strategic planning, and promotional support for independent electronic music labels.

The initiative is positioned as a response to ongoing cash flow challenges faced by independent labels, particularly the delay between music releases that generate income and the receipt of royalty payments. According to the company, Elevate will provide selected labels with access to upfront capital advances, alongside tailored business planning and promotional assistance.

A focus on royalty delays and label growth

LabelWorx said it has committed $10 million in funding during the programme’s first round. Participating labels will also receive a 12-month growth strategy developed with senior company staff, access to promotional campaigns through LabelWorx’s Pick N’ Mix platform, and ongoing strategic reviews intended to improve long-term sustainability and return on investment.

Dominic Kerley, Vice President at LabelWorx, said the initiative is intended to address structural issues affecting independent music businesses.

“Independent labels move culture forward but too often are constrained by slow royalty cycles and limited access to capital,” Kerley said in a statement.

The programme reflects a wider trend within the independent music sector, where labels increasingly seek alternative financing options outside traditional lending structures. Royalty payment delays can create operational pressure for smaller companies attempting to invest in marketing, artist development and release schedules while waiting for streaming and sales revenues to clear.

While advances and catalogue financing have become more common in the broader music industry, these arrangements have historically been concentrated around major catalogues and established rights holders. Elevate appears aimed at smaller independent electronic labels that may lack access to those forms of funding.

Electronic labels continue to diversify revenue strategies

Electronic music labels have increasingly expanded beyond traditional release models in recent years, often operating across publishing, events, merchandise and artist management. However, fluctuating streaming revenues and rising marketing costs have placed additional pressure on smaller operations.

LabelWorx, which has operated in electronic music distribution and label services for more than 15 years, said the initiative is designed specifically for the needs of the electronic music sector. Its current roster includes labels associated with artists such as FISHER, Michael Bibi, PAWSA, Indira Paganotto, John Digweed, Chris Lake and Cloonee.

The company also included a statement from Ky William, founder of Andhera Records, who said financial support from LabelWorx had helped expand the label’s operations over the past year.

Applications for Elevate are now open through the LabelWorx website. Find out more here.
