The New Jersey-based company has released a plug-in version of the classic modulated tremolo effect from the iconic H3000 Harmonizer hardware effects processor and has pledged all proceeds to the Equal Justice Initiative and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund.
Eventide’s latest effects plugin is Undulator. Currently available for $19, the plug-in is described as providing, “a unique rhythmic effect by combining ethereal feedback and detuned echoes which are fed through an AM/FM modulated tremolo.” We were informed that it is able to transform synths, keys, guitars, and even vocals into evolving pads and drone soundscapes.
Eventide have sourced Undulator from their classic H3000 effects processor. The below video demonstrates how it, can be used to achieve delay, reverb, transient shaping and detuning, as well as dynamic tremolo effects.
The Ribbon control appears to be a standout feature, allowing users to morph between two different settings of any combination of controls. This parameter is also mapped to the mod wheel by default.
Another interesting-looking parameter is the Fast Slow button at the bottom that, when held down, goes into Brake mode and temporarily slows down the LFO speed until the button is released.
The company has pledged all proceeds from the plugin to two organizations, the Equal Justice Initiative and the NAACP Legal Defense and Education Fund. Speaking about the initiative, Eventide stated:
“Eventide Audio is committed to supporting the fight against systemic racism and violence. We hope that you will join us by listening, learning, and taking action. We embrace diversity and seek equality, justice, inclusion, and dignity for all. We stand in unity with the Black community and will take action by donating to organizations that support justice and social change.”
Undulator is available for Mac and PC as a VST/AAX/AU plug-in and you can request a 30-day trial. Eventide have also released an iOS AUv3 plug-in version of the plug-in priced at $7.99, with an introductory price of $4.99 through July 20.
