Sound Waves Festival returns with its 2026 Winter Edition on February 14 at Lisbon’s Pavilhão Carlos Lopes, following the release of its full lineup last November. The single-day event combines established and emerging names from hard techno and contemporary electronic music, in line with the festival’s reputation for intense, high-energy programming.
The headliners for the Winter Edition include Irish DJ and producer blk., Berlin-based Kobosil, French techno figure Shlømo, and Dutch act Klofama. Additional names on the bill include SOMEWHEN and a back-to-back set from Portuguese based Ornella and Aiden. Supporting the main lineup is local act Gaddam.PK.
Continued growth of hard techno across Europe
Sound Waves has become a regular fixture on Portugal’s electronic music calendar, and this Winter Edition aligns with the growing European appetite for harder, faster techno styles. By featuring artists like Kobosil — a Berghain regular and founder of 44 LABEL GROUP — and Shlømo, known for his blend of industrial textures and melodic undertones, the lineup reflects current trends in techno programming across European clubs and festivals.
The presence of blk., whose rapid rise in the underground scene has been marked by high-energy sets and viral clips, further supports the festival’s positioning in the harder end of the techno spectrum. Alongside newer Portuguese and European names, the bill offers a snapshot of a sound that continues to find large audiences across both club and festival settings.
Lisbon venue offers urban winter setting
The choice of Pavilhão Carlos Lopes — a central and architecturally significant venue in Lisbon — offers a more urban setting for the Winter Edition, in contrast to Sound Waves’ summer editions typically held in coastal locations. The venue has previously hosted both music and cultural events, offering indoor capacity suited to the February date.
The event is scheduled for a midweek date on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026.
