Smooth Operator is described as an ‘Intelligent Signal Balancer’ this interesting new plug-in from Baby Audio uses spectral processing to automatically resolve fatigued frequencies and bring out clarity.

Baby Audio have just released a new plug-in called Smooth Operator. Combining EQ, resonance suppression and spectral compression, Smooth Operator is designed to “bring out clarity” and “automatically resolve fatigued frequencies” in your audio.

Smooth Operator

Smooth Operator’s algorithm adapts to incoming audio 44,100 times per second, giving users full control over their signal, regardless of how it changes over time.

FAST FOURIER TRANSFORM

Smooth Operator’s algorithm uses Fast Fourier Transform, or FFT, to break the “incoming audio into tiny particles” which are analyzed and processed separately, before being put back together again”. This process takes place in real-time and the company suggests it’s far more surgical in it’s approach than traditional EQ.

While most spectral tools focus on audio restoration, Baby Audio has designed Smooth Operator to be all about creative expression. The plugin is designed for shaping your tone and can be used to compress, EQ and ‘purify’ in one simple process. Smooth Operator is also engineered to automatically eliminate artifacts
