Berlin’s Santé reveals his all-time favourites, including classics from Marvin Gaye to Talking Heads.
What’s the first record you ever bought?
I can’t remember the first record ever, but my first dance record was by Masters At Work. I think it was around 1995 when an old friend got a job in a record store. I would visit him every day and he played me a lot of new music.
Your favourite ever record?
Talking Heads – ‘This Must Be The Place’ I always have this song on my iPod and if I play it in new hotels or on the road, I immediately feel at home.
The guaranteed floor-filler?
Can I be cheeky here and say my new EP with Sidney Charles on Hot Creations? We’ve been playing these two tracks across Europe and the world for a couple of months now, and both are going down really well. We played them last week at our Ibiza residency, DO NOT SLEEP, and the reception was fantastic!
The record you’re proudest of?
S: I have a huge Motown collection from my dad, but I would say it’s the original from Marvin Gaye, Let’s Get It On, from 1973.
The future classic?
Major Lazer & DJ Snake – ‘Lean On (feat. MØ)’. This is such a timeless tune already for me.
The last track of the night?
The ‘Enjoy’ remix from Philip Bader. We released this version together with the original Eskuche & NuSky on my label AVOTRE, and I love playing this banging remix.
The guilty pleasure?
The Cure – ‘Boys Don’t Cry’. I love playing this song on my guitar – it was one of the first I ever learned how to play.
