In our new podcast series, we speak with none other than Inner City on the back of their new single ‘Reach’.

We’re pleased to introduce our new podcast series. Kicking things off we welcome Inner City for an hour-long chat about their new single ‘Reach’, how they view the pros and cons of social media, production and, in particular, groove.

Inner City has been through a few personnel changes over the years but we were lucky enough to lock in Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez Saunderson (Saunderson’s youngest son) and vocalist Steffanie Christi’an. The current lineup was formed to mark the 30th anniversary of Inner City. ‘Reach’ follow-ons from the well-received collaboration with Idris Elba, ‘No More Looking Back’. Despite a few technical issues, we were able to get into it finally, after three attempts.

Kevin Saunderson (one of “The Belleville Three”) is heralded as one of the originators of techno and featuring vocalist Paris Grey, Inner City are best known for their early crossover hits ‘Big Fun’ and ‘Good Life’. Further successes saw the group topping the US Billboard dance chart five times and securing nine Top 40 hits on the UK singles chart.

Read our interview with Kevin Saunderson from 2021 about the feeling of techno.
