“I read a review and they said my music is not for the faint of heart…” Avion introduces himself.

Who are you?

AVION. DJ, producer and label owner, born and raised by the Baltic Sea and found my way to Berlin.

What do you sound like?

This is very hard to say. A few days ago I read a review and they said it is “not for the faint of heart”… I think I sound true and like me.

Why should we listen to you?

Because of pure curiosity.

What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?

I’ve released on my own label Crossing up to Crossing 004 and also did a remix for my friend Stefan Rein on PURETRAXX (PURE) and a remix on PA-MUSIC. Next will be Crossing 005 (in September/October this year), including a remix from an artist who is on my personal wishlist like Thomas Hessler on the current release.

What song sums you up? Why?

I never sum, only singing when I’m alone driving in my car at night, very loud…

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

On the musical side, the big five for me are Depeche Mode, Jeff Mills, Gerberei Schwerin, Berghain and Björk. On the personal side, my brother and my nearest. All in all it’s past, present and future.

Where can we hear your music?

Hopefully not on MTV!

Where will you be in five years’ time?

Hard to say. Hopefully in good health, in a sunny place with fresh air and the people who matter to me, doing everything I love to do.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I hate to sit in cocktail bars and my curry is really delicious.

Avion’s ‘Era’/’Ink’ is out now on Crossing. Find him on Facebook, SoundCloud, and at his label Crossing.
