Spotify to go public. The streaming giant, valued at around $15 billion, has secretly filed to be listed on the New York Stock Exchange. Axios broke the story and Bloomberg confirmed it.

Spotify to be sued. Good job they’re valued so highly as, they have also been hit with a $1.6 billion copyright lawsuit over Tom Petty, Weezer and Neil Young songs. Read it here.

Black crack. Blackdown writes at length about vinyl, arguing both for an against the format, here.

Less is more. The Internet producer Steve Lacy extols the virtues of making music using whatever equipment is to hand, rather than the latest technology. He used an iPhone to make beats for the likes of Kendrick Lamar, as he explains in his TED talk, above.
