The Story of Glasgow’s Optimo Club Night. In this instalment of Cult Heroes, the Guardian tells the story of Optimo, a “club night that defied expectation and defined a generation”. Run by Glasgow’s Keith McIvor and Jonnie Wilkes for 13 years until 2010, Optimo’s “eclecticism melded techno, electro, no-wave, post-punk, Afrobeat, psych-rock, cleverly curated pop classics and more”.
