This week’s top mixes include Scuba’s Awakenings, rare dubs from Kode9 and an improvised ambient performance from Surgeon.

Teki Latex Just Jams. Teki Latex, co-founder of Sound Pellegrino and curator of the online DJ show Overdrive Infinity, steps up to play pure party music, lurching from grime to new wave via old school UKG and electro on Just Jam, creating some jaw-dropping unexpected blends along the way. Watch the video stream above.

Scuba’s Awakenings. Berlin-based producer, DJ and Hotflush Recordings founder Scuba performs an ultra-streamlined set of icy big room techno selections at day one of Amsterdam’s Awakenings Festival. Stream above, track listing here.

Kode9 showcases DMZ favourites. Hyperdub founder Kode9 used his monthly Hyperdub show on RinseFM to showcase the records he didn’t find time to play at DMZ‘s tenth anniversary party last Friday night. Veering from highly swung 2-step to the deepest dubstep, it’s a masterclass in bassweight. Stream and download above.

Pittsburgh Track Authority’s Expertise. PTA‘s mix for the Madrid-based avant-garde arts collective Undermad “showcases perfectly their eclectic spirit. From Enya to Vybz Kartel and working its way through some Fela Kuti, there is something for everyone here.” Stream and download above, track listing here.

Surgeon Improvises Ambient Performance. “This is the recording of a live improvisation performed at Freerotation Festival in Wales. I was seated on the floor of the yurt with the audience so as to give us the experience of travelling together. The following machines were used: Buchla Music Easel, Electro Harmonix 45000, Strymon blueSky, and Sony PCM-D50 recorder.” Anthony Child aka Surgeon offers up his ambient set from this year’s Freerotation festival. Stream and download above.

… and Objekt closes Freerotation. “It was a profoundly intense, joyful experience.” The British techno producer currently based in Berlin describes performing the closing set live at his favourite festival: “I’m still glowing. Dance music may be rife with hyperbole and platitudes but I’m being 100% sincere when I say that closing out Freerotation festival last Sunday was an experience I’ll remember til I die. Hugely grateful for the opportunity to have been part of such a special weekend.” Stream and download above, track listing here.
