The best chillout record?

Jesse Somfay – ‘Small Pebbled Forest (2005 Edit)’. I always go back to this track when it’s time to chill. Winston.

The worst record you’ve ever heard?

The worst song I’ve ever heard is Day Above Ground – ‘Asian Girlz’. This was a genuinely serious release which has recently been banned. It’s not hard to guess why. Unbelievably bad. [And probably NSFW – ed.]

The record you’re proudest of?

It has to be ‘The Journey’ as it’s the first ‘song’ I wrote, i.e. I started with the idea, then wrote the lyrics and recorded them, then made the music to fit. Some tracks you naturally put more into than others, in terms of thought and time spent, and this was one of them.

The future classic?

Hot Natured – ‘Different Sides’. An obvious choice maybe but it’s such a great song.

Russ Yallop featuring Aimee Sophia – ‘The Journey’ is out now on Crosstown Rebels.
