Who are you? 

Alex Young: Villager 

Where are you from?

Maryland.

What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?

My first EP for Villager just came out on Boys Noize Records. I’m gonna be doing a bunch more Villager releases, as well as a project under my own name that I’m excited to share.

How did you get into DJing/producing, to begin with?

I’ve been playing instruments since I was eight years old and using computers since around the same time. Producing music and DJing became a natural extension of that when I was around 11 or 12, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What are three things on your studio shopping list?

Moog Matriarch, Elektron Octatrack, Neve Preamp

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

Oh man, gonna have to skip this one. I have no one main influence, but I am influenced by a lot of incredible musicians across the whole spectrum. Producers, bands, rappers, songwriters… there are too many to list.

Who or what have you sacrificed for your art?

Time and relationships.

What’s been your favourite place to play so far?

I’ve only toured the US… but I really like Milwaukee and San Francisco.

Where can we hear your music?

Spotify, Youtube, Apple Music, Juno, etc… I have a song I wrote and produced for Halsey coming out soon that you miiiight hear on the radio 😉 

What one song would feature on the soundtrack to your life?

Pyramid Song by Radiohead.

What motivates you?

I like recognizing my limitations and then moving beyond them.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself

I played EDC Vegas when I was 15, my mom came with me. She had about 100 pieces of raver candy by the end of the night.
