Novation introduce new groovebox, Circuit, which features Ultranova-derived synth engine and 8×4 pads.

The subject of Novation’s Start Something campaign has been revealed. The British company is set to release its first groovebox, Circuit, later this month.

At first glance, Circuit has a little in common with NI’s Maschine and Korg’s Electribe series, but if you put those tangential reference points aside, what we have here is a surprisingly original take on the groovebox concept.

What we have here is an all-in-one drum and synth workstation with an approach derived from Novation’s own Launchpad Pro controller but operating as a standalone instrument in its own right. In fact, slot in six AA batteries and a pair of headphones and it’s completely portable.

Circuit offers two polyphonic synth channels and four drum channels. The unit itself is tiny – just 24cm x 20cm – and comes bundled with a copy of Ableton Live Lite.

Control goes on sale on October 15th priced at £250/$329. Find out more at the Novation site.
