A Desktop Record Cutting Prototype. Sydney-based audio technologists Machina.Pro fund the further development of their prototype desktop vinyl cutting package, receiving three times over their Kickstarter goal. The DRC is precision engineered technology that’s automated for ease of use, whilst allowing custom control, upgrades and modification. Watch the proof of concept above.

Hits Industry News. US music industry news site HITS Daily Double reports on the latest corporate efforts to make streaming more profitable, reporting that Spotify may soon abandon its existing freemium model in favour of a short free trial followed by compulsory subscription to the paid service, possibly at a lower monthly rate. Read here.

Universal Sample-Accurate MIDI Output. Expert Sleepers announce a new MIDI device that is guaranteed to generate sample-accurate, jitter-free MIDI output and sync with your DAW. USAMO does this using a VST/AU plugin, which sends an audio signal to a standalone box, where it is reconstructed as a standard MIDI signal. Vestax Bankruptcy Details. Japanese business press confirms suspicion about Vestax, who had recently been dropped by their US distributor, were absent from trade shows, and kept silent on social media. The music manufacturer stopped business operations at the end of August and officially entered bankruptcy proceedings with liabilities cited at around 900 million yen. Find out more here.
