The deep dubstep don picks some life-changing tracks. From a 70s soul classic to the local pirate radio station which first introduced him to UK garage.

What’s the first record you ever bought?

Wesley featuring Shimano – ‘Phunkz’. I used to be an MC so I remember just thinking this would be good to spit lyrics on.

The first time you remember hearing electronic music?

My sister came in my room, heard me listening to Capital FM and told me to listen to ICE FM 88.4, a local pirate radio station playing UK garage, and the rest is history as they say.

Your favourite ever record?

Gladys Knight and the Pips – ‘The Way We Were’. Love the build-up on this one. I can listen to it over and over. Great music.

The guaranteed floor-filler?

Emalkay – ‘Crusader’. The breaks and bassline on this one do it for me and most ravers.

The last track of the night?

‘Beauty’. I get a lot of requests for this and it’s at the end of my first album. It’s a nice track to end it on.

The best record for a family party?

David Bowie – ‘Let’s Dance’. It does exactly what it says on the tin.

The record you’re proudest of?

‘The Horizon’, ‘Feel’ and the City Limits series, volumes one and two. I see them as one record and they’re what got me recognised so that makes me proud of them.
