“I’ve always believed that a nice flow of good music keeps the floor filled, independently from what genres are played.” Italoboyz’ Marco Donato runs us through his all-time favourites.

Italoboyz

What’s the first record you ever bought?

Afrika Bambaataa – ‘Just Get Up And Dance’.

The first time you remember hearing electronic music?

Towards the end of the 80s. I was a kid living in Italy and I remember some cassettes of this music called Tendenza. It was love at first ‘hear’!

Your favourite ever record?

I’ve tried to think so many times, but it’s officially impossible to pick one. One of the bunch: ‘Billie Jean’, Michael Jackson.

The guaranteed floor-filler?

I’ve always believed that a nice flow of good music keeps the floor filled, independently from what genres are played. I hate ‘floor fillers’… but OK, I know the formula, I have to drop some names, so DJ Gregory – ‘The Joburg Theme (Dub du Cerf)’, Point G – ‘Druker’ or Italoboyz vs Blind Minded – ‘909 Drummer’.

The guilty pleasure?

Las Ketchup – ‘Asereje’. I don’t know why, but I like it. Very guilty.
