Who are you?

I’m a guy from Barcelona who loves electronic music. I have worked in a lot of different roles in the music industry: DJ, producer, journalist in a magazine, press agent, consultant, A&R… Now I’m focused on my DJ and producer career and I’m running my own label, Baumhaus.

What do you sound like?

I’m trying to sound like house music in all meanings of the genre. Depending my mood I can do something soulful in the studio, something techno, something melodic. I don’t know if it’s a good way to work or not, but it’s my way.

Why should we listen to you?

Should? You must! Haha! Well, every time you’re gonna listen to something of mine you can’t predict what you might hear… Now I’m working on some classic tech-house tunes, a melodic and heavy-weight bass EP, some acid house tracks, some bass music projects. I’m a jack in a box!

What have you released so far? What else have you got coming out in the near future?

I have released some tunes on labels like Suara, Supernature and mainly on Baumhaus. In the near future I’ll release some more music on my label and I have more stuff produced together with UNER looking for a warm and lovely home. If you know anyone, please let us know!

What song sums you up? Why?

Just one song? My favourite song ever is Donna Summer – ‘I Feel Love’. I would like to do music like that, full of energy, very soulful, futuristic… It was made in 1977, can you believe that?

What or who is your biggest influence and why?

I learned a lot listening to recorded DJ sets and dancing like nobody’s watching in clubs, so my biggest influence could be a mix of DJ sets from Balearic DJs like DJ Pippi or Cesar de Melero, some US legends like Erick Morillo, Roger Sanchez, Masters at Work or Danny Tenaglia and some European DJs like Laurent Garnier, Dixon or James Holden.

Where can we hear your music?

I’m very happy because Solomun is playing now a remix I did two years ago for Metronomy. You can watch and listen to it below:

Where will you be in five years’ time?

I hope I’ll be doing what I love to do: playing music in clubs and making people dance.

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself.

I’m a great chef. I cook Spanish food like gazpacho, tortilla de patatas or arroz con leche. I really like cooking – it’s very relaxing and creative.

UNER & Baum’s ‘Lamia’ is out on Baumhaus on March 16th and features a remix from Karizma in his Kaytronik guise. Find Baum on Facebook, Twitter and SoundCloud.
